Singh began his career when he took part in the contemporary reality show Fame Gurukul in 2005 and was discovered by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Kumar Taurani. Early in his singing career, he received nominations for the male male singer of the year award at the Mirchi Music Awards 2013 for the performances of "Phir Le Aya Dil" and "Duaa", winning the latter's prize. . Singh received wide recognition with the release of "Tum Hi Ho" and "Chahun Main Ya Naa" in 2013. Singh was named the most broadcast Indian artist in 2019 by Spotify.
