Ali Zafar (Urdu: علی ظفر; born 18 May 1980) is a Pakistani songwriter, model, actor, producer, screenwriter and painter. Zafar started out on Pakistani TV before becoming a popular musician. Later, he also established a career in Bollywood and his success led many Pakistani actors to venture into Hindi films. He received five Lux Style Awards and one Filmfare Award nomination.
Zafar began his career as a music composer and became popular with his single "Channo" from his debut album Huqa Pani, which has sold over five million copies worldwide. "Channo" proved to be a great success, passing many charts and earning several awards for the best music album and artist. Zafar made his acting debut with a starring role in the 2010 Bollywood satirical film Tere Bin Laden, a modest box office hit. His performance in the film garnered many accolades and earned him multiple nominations in the Best Male Debut category, including Filmfare. Subsequently, he also worked on several films, including Mere Brother Ki Dulhan, Chashme Baddoor and Dear Zindagi.
In addition to his career as an actor and singer, Zafar participates in guided tours, concerts and theatrical performances, is active in humanitarian works and has a series of statements of support. In 2013, Zafar was voted "the sexiest Asian man in the world" based on a global survey conducted by the British newspaper Eastern Eye.
